It was built from 1906-1912.

The building is located in Barcelona, Spain.

You can visit this building.

Yes, the approximate overall cost was 18 million pesetas.

6. Is there a reason the building was created or the history of the building itself?
The building was created to be a mass living area at first, making room for over 20 apartments, and other functional living amenities.

7. Why did you pick this building? (write at least a paragraph on this question)
    Besides the fact of being the first building on the list, I love the rich culture of Spain, and I love the controversial factor that this building brings. The ideas that the creator of the building had were brilliant. Antoni created a beautiful building that was efficient in itself. Anywhere from the glass in the walls, the the curves of the roof have a purpose.

Was originally constructed for the 1958 Brussels World's Fair, and was started in 1957.

The structure is located in Bruxelles, Belgium.

Yes, you can visit the building

No, but it does say that it was sold for 1000 euros.


6. Is there a reason the building was created or the history of the building itself?

It was created to be a showcase at the Brussels World's Fair, as shown above.

7. Why did you pick this building? (write at least a paragraph on this question) 

    I was very interested to find out the type of architecture that could be found in Belgium, since I don't know what would be. This is definitely not the building that I expected to see. I was interested in finding out how the building is supported in terms of structure and in cost. I was also interested in learning more about how to move around or even get into the building.

It was designed by Piet Blom.

It was built in 1996.

It is located in Rotterdam, Netherlands.

You can visit the chess piece museum below the apartment/ hotel cubes.

There is not any information on the cost of the buildings.

6. Is there a reason the building was created or the history of the building itself?

Blom just wanted to create a new type of living space that was interesting to look at.

7. Why did you pick this building? (write at least a paragraph on this question)

    I have seen the pictures of these "Cubic Houses" on different forms of social media, but never really heard any actual information about them. The colors and slant really made me interested in the build. I wanted to find out more about how Blom placed the structure and how he balanced them.

It is in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

It is a successful, and expensive,  hotel. You can visit and stay the night.

It was $1 billion US dollars to create this building.

6. Is there a reason the building was created or the history of the building itself?

It was created to be an extremely high- tech and luxury hotel.

7. Why did you pick this building? (write at least a paragraph on this question)

    I picked this building initially because of the location. Dubai is known for carrying the richest people, cars, and places in the world. I also thought the build was interesting due to the tennis court suspended away from the building. I love learning about expensive things, and this building is extremely expensive.

Beijing, China was where it was constructed.

It is a building that was created to enjoy visual and other physical arts.

The building was originally planned to be about 2.7 billion yuan, but ended up being around 3.2 billion.

6. Is there a reason the building was created or the history of the building itself?

This building was created as a performance venue, mostly for the purpose of an opera house.

7. Why did you pick this building? (write at least a paragraph on this question)

I picked this building because this building looks to be the only preforming arts center on the list of buildings. The shapes and reflections that the building makes in the pictures is extremely interesting. I also wanted to know the materials that they used, and how they support the structure with that shape.
