File Formats Assignment
3 advantages of RAW:
- higher in dynamic range
- complete data from camera's sensor
- trustworthy/admissable in court
1 disadvantage of RAW:
- lower in contrast
3 advantages of JPEG:
- higher in contrast
- sharper
- immediately suitable for printing/sharing/posting
1 disadvantage of JPEG:
- lower in dynamic range
1. a RAW file retains all of the data after being captured by the camera
2. in RAW, you have control over white balance, contrast, highlights, shadows, colors, and saturation
3. RAW files are significantly larger then JPEG files and you can convert RAW to JPEG, but not vice versa
4. it’s not uncommon for professionals to spend far more time editing than actually shooting and if you want to be competing with the best, then you need to invest time in learning editing skills and developing the techniques that will enhance your photos

Painting Recreation Pre Assignment
I know that I really want to do the Girl with a Pearl Earring painting by Johannes Vermeer. I want to do this painting because it was the only painting that I saw that almost instantaneously got me inspired, and because it is one of my favorite of the classic paintings.
My idea is to give the painting a more modern twist by creating a juxtaposition of the current beauty standards compared to the ones during the time period. My plan is to have a black or darker skinned girl with a headwrap, hoop earrings, and today's average glam makeup. I will have her posed the same way with the same shadows, just different clothing and accessories.
