A Phobia is an extreme or irrational fear of or aversion to something.
Ex.
Nyctophobia- The fear of the dark/ darkness.
Arachnophobia- Fear of spiders.
Coulrophobia- Fear of clowns.
Cacophobia- Fear of ugliness.
Autophobia- Fear of being alone or of oneself.
Phobia Photo Brainstorm.
Nyctophobia-
Figure/ objects: boy or girl around 16-17, hands around the subject.
Format: I want the picture to appear uncomfortable and claustrophobic, so I want to take the picture vertically.
Subject placement: I want the subject to be directly in the center of the picture.
Background: I want the background to be pitch black
Point of view: I want to be directly above the subject as if they were laying down.
Lighting: I want the picture to be extremely dark, and the subject sticking out of the background due to sickly pale skin.
Clothing: I am still choosing between neutral colors, or bright vibrant colors like pale pink and yellow to help the subject stick out.
Subject: I want the subject to be visibly terrified with dirty hands coming out from the darkness.
I want to shoot these pictures in doors with a black sheet or background to lay on. I want to do this because the lighting from the outside is too bright and adds warmth that I don't want to the picture. Usually the fear of the dark comes from being afraid of what is in the dark. To show this I want to have hands, that are dirtied up with black eye shadow, around the subject with hard grips around the arms, and also one around the mouth.
Autophobia-
Figure/ objects: A single person, most likely a girl around the age of 16
Format: vertical, to create the illusion of excessive extra space.
Subject placement: I want the subject to, again, be placed directly in the center of the picture.
Background: I want the background to be extremely simple and almost boring
Point of view: I want to face the subject directly in front of them
Lighting: I want the lighting to be little dim, to show the idea of the place being abandoned
Clothing: bright light pink shirt and light washed jeans, I want the subject to look like any regular teen
Subject: I want the subject to face away from the camera, to show that the subject has not seen the camera and honestly believes that they are alone.
I want to shoot this photo indoors to, again, reduce the amount of colors in the subject's skin and also in the room. I want the subject to be dressed in the pink shirt to contrast the many traces of blue that are often found when shooting indoors. I want this picture to show a "creepy" feeling by using this lighting. There is no warmth and comfort in fear.
Cacophobia-
Figure/ objects: I want the subject to be a female teen. I want the subject to be surrounded by many makeup products, and possibly have "black mascara" tears.
Format: I want the formant of the picture to be horizontal
Subject placement: I want the subject to be directly in the middle of the picture.
Background: I want the background to be "white, frilly, and girly" to show the basic idea of the "feminine ideal" in a tragic state
Point of view: I want the point of view to again be straight on.
Lighting: I want there to be dim lighting again, to show that same creepy mood from the other pictures.
Clothing: Maybe a frilly dress, but i would rather have the same pink shirt to show that constant theme in the other pictures.
Subject: I want to take pictures of the subject crying with the black tears, and also smiling with the tears, I cannot choose what way I should go with the emotion of the subject.
